Why am I missing Strength Ranks?

Troubleshooting missing Strength Ranks: wrong variant, custom exercises, profile setup, and unranked exercises

Written by Will Sims

Why Isn't My Exercise Ranked?

There are a few reasons an exercise might not show a Strength Rank after you complete it:

You selected the wrong exercise variant. Many exercises come in multiple variants (dumbbell, barbell, cable, machine), and each variant has its own rank thresholds. If you're doing cable hammer curls but selected the dumbbell version, your rank won't reflect your actual performance. Tap the exercise name in your workout to check which variant you picked. See Why does the exercise variant matter for Strength Ranks? for details on how to switch.

You added a custom exercise instead of a library exercise. Strength Ranks only work with exercises from Arc's built-in library. If you created a custom exercise (even with the same name as a library exercise), it won't have a rank. To fix this, remove the custom exercise from your workout and add the library version instead. You can search for it by name when adding an exercise.

The exercise doesn't have a rank yet. Arc has over 150 exercises, and we're still adding Strength Rank data for all of them. If an exercise isn't ranked yet, it may receive one in a future update.

Your profile is missing bodyweight or gender. Strength Ranks are calculated using your gender, bodyweight, and estimated one-rep max. If either is missing, ranks can't be calculated. Check your profile in the Planning tab to make sure both are set.

How to Check if You're Using a Library Exercise

  1. Open your workout and tap the exercise name.

  2. If you see rank information (Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.) on the exercise detail screen, it's a library exercise with ranking support.

  3. If there's no rank section, the exercise is either custom or not yet ranked.

Still Missing Ranks?

If you're using a library exercise, your profile is complete, and you're still not seeing a rank, contact us with a screenshot of your workout details. We'll investigate.
